Mold casting is the process of taking a solid object, building a negative impression of it, and then filling that impression with a new material to create a copy of the original object. Commonly, mold casting is done by pouring silicone or latex over the object, removing the object and pouring a two part plastic inside. This can be used to take a completed armor piece and create a plastic alternative, as some base objects are solid and can't be worn (CNC, Hand Molding), or heavy (Fiberglass + Bondo), or structurally weak (Foam). The mold casted duplicate is usually made of a lightweight but durable plastic, and new copies can be made of the first breaks.
